Painting in Time, Part Two, 2016, Chicago
Painting in Time: Part Two explores the relationship between time and contemporary painting. The artists in this cross-generational,international exhibition destabilize the idea of painting as a static object. Paintings will be produced by machines, performed, choreographed, instructionalized, staged as films, encourage spectator participation, will evolve throughout the exhibitionand be presented as events.
Artists include: Polly Apfelbaum, Paola Cabal, Susie Choi, Chloe Cucinotta, Kayla Cook, Micah Dillman, Debo Eilers, Dylan Fish, Juan Camilo Guzmán, Kate Hawkins, Robert Chase Heishman and Megan Schvaneveldt, Aichi Hsu, Jeff Huckleberry, Natasha Kidd, Rob Leech, Billy McGuinness, Jaclyn Mednicov, Lisa Milroy, Yoko Ono, Sophia Padgett Perez, Jeremy Sublewski, Maryam Taghavi, Vincent Tiley, Zhiyuan Yang, and Cindy Zhang.
Painting in Time: Part Two is guest curated by artist Sarah Kate Wilson and organized by SAIC faculty member Claire Ashley (MFA, 1995). With special thanks to The Tetley, Leeds, who co-curated and supported the first iteration of the project.
